Everything You Need to Know for Great Results and Safe Treatments

Botox (Anti-wrinkle) Injections

For the best results, and for your own safety, please follow the advice below.

  • Don’t drink alcohol for at least 24 hours before undergoing anti-wrinkle injections. We’re not trying to ruin your evening plans, but alcohol can thin the blood and increase the risk and likelihood of bruising.

  • Make sure you eat before the procedure. It doesn’t have to be a three-course meal but have some food inside you to reduce risk of feeling light-headed.

  • Avoid non-essential medications like blood thinners or anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen or aspirin (unless advised by your doctor). If you are on essential blood thinning medications, you should discuss this at your consultation.

  • Avoid consuming any extra Vitamin E or fish oils before your treatment (such as cod liver oil or omega-3), as these will increase your risk of bruising.

  • Please don’t wear too much make up on the day of your procedure in the area(s) where you are having the anti-wrinkle (botox) treatment. You should avoid wearing make up for the rest of the day after your treatment.

  • Try to avoid shaving/hair removal in the area that you are having your anti-wrinkle injections (whether with wax, laser, or cream).

  • You should avoid products that contain ingredients that are ‘anti-ageing’ – things like retinol, glycolic acid, and alpha hydroxy acid for at least two days before (and after) your treatment.

  • Avoid strenuous exercise soon after treatment, ideally not for a day or two after the treatment, otherwise, the injected substance can move to other parts of your face, and we don’t want that.

  • Do not lay down for at least four hours after the treatment – as just as above, if you do, the substance could spread to the wrong areas.

  • Avoid touching, rubbing, or massaging the area where you had treatment, no matter how tempting this is! You should avoid this for at least 24 hours. If you don’t follow this advice, then the substance can be ‘pushed’ to the wrong areas.

  • One thing at a time – so don’t have any other treatments such as facials and chemical peels, or microdermabrasion for at least two weeks after the treatment, and avoid the sun until at least any swelling or redness has gone from the treatment area.

  • You should avoid products that contain ingredients that are ‘anti-ageing’ – things like retinol, glycolic acid, and alpha hydroxy acid for at least two days after (and before) your treatment.

  • And don’t forget – it takes two weeks before the results of your treatment take full effect. So, you need to wait until after this period to see if you are happy with them or to report anything that you feel may be an aesthetic issue.

  • If you have any unforeseen reaction or medical issue, please do get in touch straight away.

Dermal Fillers and Skin Boosters

For the best results, and for your own safety, please follow the advice below.

  • If you have any neurological disorders, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should not have dermal fillers. Also, you should check that you are not allergic to any of the ingredients in the fillers.

  • Avoid non-essential medications like blood thinners or anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen or aspirin (unless advised by your doctor). If you are on essential blood thinning medications, you should discuss this at your consultation.

  • Let us know in advance if you have a history of cold sores.

  • Avoid consuming any extra Vitamin E or fish oils before your treatment (such as cod liver oil or omega-3), as these will increase your risk of bruising.

  • Please don’t wear too much make-up on the day of your procedure in the area(s) where you are having the dermal filler treatment. You should avoid wearing make-up for the rest of the day after your treatment.

  • Avoid excessive movement or any massaging of the treated area (unless instructed by us), and don’t touch the injected area for at least six hours after the treatment.

  • Try to not drink alcohol for 48 hours after your dermal filler treatment. This will help to reduce swelling. If you do have swelling, it’s best to sleep face up if possible, with your treated area slightly elevated – for example by using two pillows. You can use a cold pack for a maximum of 15 minutes per hour, but don’t press too hard.

    • Blanching, discolouration or mottling of the skin
