One question I get a lot is what’s the difference between Profhilo Skin boosters and Skin boosters? And it’s a good question!
The differences could be considered fairly subtle, and it’s not the easiest question to answer – but there are differences! I think that’s why it’s easy for people to get them confused – and many facial aesthetics providers even list them in the same category on their websites, but at the booth of youth we always treat them separately.
Ultimately, they both enhance your skin and should make you look and feel refreshed, and both have quick and effective results – both giving improvement in skin quality through their hydrating and boosting effect. The differences sit in the way the treatments work and the way they are administered, which are both a little different. Profhilo stimulates collagen and elastin, attracting water in the deeper layers of the skin. The Profhilo brand distinguishes itself from Skin boosters, quoting on their website: ‘The stimulation results in significant tissue improvement. Therefore we cannot say that Profhilo is a skin booster as it also has a significant tightening/lifting effect on the tissue’.
With Profhilo, the ultra-pure hyaluronic acid formula spreads much more around the areas injected, whereas the formula in Skin boosters stays much closer to the injection sites. So, this in turn means that with Skin boosters more injections are needed than for Profhilo.
Another difference is the timings of treatments and the amount of treatments ‘per course’. With Profhilo the initial treatment is usually two treatments, one month apart, then a single treatment in six months as a booster. In some cases, patients may need a third treatment at month 3, but most just need two then the booster. The injections are administered in just five places on each side of the face and then the formula spreads around and works its magic – stimulating collagen and elastin production (which improves skin elasticity). With Skin boosters the initial treatment is three sessions, each one month apart and then a single treatment in six months as a booster.
That’s why at the booth of youth we offer Profhilo and Skin booster package deals – so you save money by buying the complete treatment course in one go, rather than pay as you go!
The procedure itself is relatively similar between the two – numbing cream will be applied so that the little injections can’t be felt then once the numbing cream has taken affect (c15-20 mins), the injections will start. After the treatment you’ll have small bumps on the skin where the injections happened, but this is perfectly normal and they aren’t massively noticeable to the outside world! They also subside very quickly, normally in the next 2-3 days after the treatment.
So, the decision really comes down to what you are trying to achieve – and as an experienced, medically trained, facial aesthetics professional, I can help…. so don’t worry if you are still unsure. Additionally, you can learn more about both treatments on our webpages here: Profhilo and Skin boosters, and there’s also lots more info about any questions you may have on our FAQs page.
And remember, the team at the booth of youth are always here to help – so if you have any questions just contact us and also part of your free consultation is exactly for that – to ask questions and understand the treatment, so that you’ll not only know what’s right for you, you’ll know what to expect in advance of the treatment day – so you can make an informed choice. We always want our customers to know all they need to know before they proceed!
